Movin' on up I'm movin' on up I'm moving back down When I was young my mom loved David Bowie So my first haircut looked like David Bowie's All the girls just loved me, I was only three Come inside the barber shop Come along with me Going to the barber shop with you, oh baby, you oh baby We can do your hair up like miss Norma Jean's Come inside the barbershop come along with me You look so good

about

This is AKUDAMA's 5th installment of our Free EP of the Month series here at Bandcamp.
"Barbershop"* is a look back at Blake's childhood, specifically recalling his first haircut ("When I was young my mom liked David Bowie / So my first haircut looked like David Bowie's / All the girls just loved me, I was only 3!"). The cover art is actually a photograph of Blake getting his first haircut! This song has existed for quite some time, and was finally recorded in Brooklyn in 2009.
"Camera Girl"* (featuring Gina Cimelli of Gina's Picture Show) is a quirky song, essentially about a girl running away ("I cut your hair off when you were sleeping / You didn't like that, so now you're leaving"). This was written during our Johnny Appleseed barn sessions in the summer of 2007, and re-recorded in Brooklyn in 2009.
Enjoy!

AKUDAMA Brooklyn, New York

With the cracking of its pit came the most magnificent sound, so fiercely exasperating that it caused the banana to kill the guava, make a boat out of it, and sail to America to start a rock band called Acucumba... which sounds strikingly similar to "AKUDAMA". ... more
