about

This EP— AKUDAMA's 4th installment of our Free EP of the Month series— consists of two songs that were written at very different times.
"Sun (from underneath the lake)"* was a song that came to Blake during our first tour to Bloomington, IN in the summer of 2008. Inspired by Animal Collective, Akron Family, and Fleet Foxes, this song features our first 4-part harmony as a band.
"Light Dancing on Water"**, was actually the first instrumental song brothers Calvin and Cayce ever wrote together. The original demo was recorded back in 2003, yet we decided to revisit the song during our 2007 barn sessions, which is the version available on this E.P. We felt these two songs, with their visceral, textural qualities, paired perfectly with the cover art, entitled "Galaxy of Love" by Dionne Pia (Calvin & Cayce's mom!).
Enjoy.

AKUDAMA Brooklyn, New York

With the cracking of its pit came the most magnificent sound, so fiercely exasperating that it caused the banana to kill the guava, make a boat out of it, and sail to America to start a rock band called Acucumba... which sounds strikingly similar to "AKUDAMA". ... more
